    What do you see of the structure of the ceremony? Note the stages if they are clear.
    What is the role of the celebrant in this ceremony?
    What enactments do you see taking place?

    Humanist Naming Ceremony:
    Structure was Procession / Manifestation/ Endings- Set up, decorate. welcoming everyone/ Readings, Song enactment, mentors spoke/ Hanging leaves in trees(sentiments) Group photo or video calling out her name

    Sikh Naming Ceremony:
    Structure was Procession / Manifestation/ Endings
    Celebrant role to is a Guru who choose’s the name of baby
    Enactment is Bowing at the alter / offering gift or food for temple to enjoy/ Ritual -Name is choosen by the book being opened and a a first letter of name from the top left hand page of its words.
    Purpose is to give a special ritual name for the child to carry.

    Rico’s hair cutting Ceremony:
    Procession / Manifestation / Ending.
    Celebrant role – Master of ceremonies
    Enactments: Coming in to music/ Songs/ Boy sitting on chair for other to come up to cut off a lock of hair/ Hair cut to a short shaved hair cut to symbolise becoming a man.
    Purpose of ceremony is for the acknowledgement of boy to man

    Māori beach wedding in Whangateau:
    Structure was Commencment,Procession / Manifestation/ Endings
    Celebrant role – to officiate the marriage
    Enactments: guests given a lei on at arrival. The cars the bride arrived in.

    Heli-snowboard wedding:
    Structure was Commencment,Procession / Manifestation/ Endings
    Celebrant role -flying with couple to top of mountains /officiate the marriage
    Enactments: Heli arrival to top of mountains/ Bride and groom and maybe witnesses Snow boarding down the mountain after the ceremony complete.
    Purpose was a marriage

    Air New Zealand Wedding in the skies:
    Structure was Commencment,Procession / Manifestation/ Endings
    Celebrant role -Marrying the couple on the airplane.
    Enactments: Getting married on Air NZ flight / Being the first same sex marriage. First Same sex marriage in NZ skies
    Purpose was a marriage

    Tania Dalton’s funeral:
    Structure was Commencment,Procession / Manifestation/ Endings
    Celebrant role : M/C for the funeral
    Enactments: Video Photos and Speakers and more video. Tania’s favourite song and lap around Stadium
    Purpose was a Funeral

    What do you mean by “enactments” in the prompts?
    These are the specific actions or rituals which may form part of the ceremony- e.g. writing on the leaves in the naming ceremony, gifting of rings in a wedding ceremony, handfasting, reading of a poem in a ceremony, exchanging of vows… as per the list we discussed this afternoon.

    Humanist Naming
    Purpose: Celebrate and Affirm the naming of a child
    Structure: Commencement procession; Manifestation and Ending
    Rituals and Enactments: Decoration of the outdoor area and casual seating including mats for children; readings all generations; music; hanging of messages of love and support in the trees; food and refreshments and group photo

    Sikh Naming
    Purpose: Celebrate and Affirm the naming of a child
    Structure: Commencement and procession; Manifestation and Ending.
    Enactments: Decorative clothing; father carried child out of the home, mum into the temple and Grandad out of the temple; presenting of the Child at the temple to the Gods; Chanting by the religious leader; offering of gifts in the temple; explanation of the naming with the letter G in a video; closing with food at the end

    Rico’s Hair cutting ceremony
    Purpose – Marking the transition of boy to man, celebrating and affirming him
    Structure – Procession / Manifestation / Ending
    Enactments – music and singing; Procession into a full room with family and friends dressed in special clothing with hair prepared in ribbons; special seat for loved ones to come up and participate in the cutting of the hair; more song and dance and sharing of food.

    Maori Beach Wedding at Whangateau
    Purpose: To affirm and celebrate the marriage of a couple
    Structure: Commencement; Manifestation and Ending
    Enactments: Procession with special car in garments of choice to marquee; gifting of colourful leis to guests; sharing of vows, signing the document and ending with sharing of food, dance, music and speeches.

    Heli Wedding ceremony
    Purpose: Celebrate and affirm a couple’s marriage
    Structure: Commencement; Manifestation and Endings
    Enactments: Entering by helicopter in appropriate attire; sharing of vows aligned to the location and love of snow boarding; announcing the wife and husband and then boarding down the mountain with GoPros capturing the event, interlinking of their tracks as they boarded and exiting by helicopter

    Air NZ wedding in the skies
    Purpose: Celebrate and affirm a couple’s marriage and the first same sex marriage and publically affirm Air NZ’s commitment to Diversity
    Structure: Commencement, Manifestation and Ending
    Enactments: Commencement by boarding the plane; guests onboard already and sharing of vows mid flight; announcement of being married and then acknowledgement as they exited the plane by Air NZ employees and moved to the celebration

    Tania Dalton’s funeral
    Purpose: Affirm, Transition, Celebrate, Healing
    Structure: Commencement, Manifestation and Ending
    Enactments: Preparation of moving people into the sacred space with music, visual montage into the start; sharing of stories from all parts of Tania’s life; readings; music, the casket was able to have messages written on; casket carried out; people invited to sing along to Sweet Caroline; closed with a lap of honour by the hearse of North Harbour stadium ground.
