Ritual and Ceremony Masterclass
September 27 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| $138
How can we, as celebrants, best navigate the diverse cultural terrain in which we find ourselves, interweaving creativity and tradition to engender meaningful, sacred moments in a secular ceremony? It’s a big ask, especially as many New Zealanders are ambivalent about ritual! In this one-day masterclass, Kathryn Rountree, Emeritus Professor of Anthropology and specialist in ritual, will lead an exploration of the role of celebrant and how we can use symbols in imaginative, beautiful and creative ways to facilitate transformation and make ceremonies more magical and memorable. We’ll look at the aesthetic and dramatic aspects of ritual, and at how these engage the emotions and senses to deepen the experience of ceremonies.
