AfterGlow Ceremony – a ritual of celebration for fully & semi-retiring celebrants

During your celebrant career you have been a beacon for others, weaving ceremonies to shine light on important transitions and threading stories through special occasions. Now that you have decided to relinquish your registration, semi or fully retire from your role, we are inviting you to join with your colleagues, and bathe in the AfterGlow of your unique journeys as celebrants.

We have invited ritual specialist and artist, Erica Duthie*, to design and facilitate this experience specially for you. Some preparation will be necessary, so please register your participation so we can send you the details.

There is no fee for participation, but if you have both the means and the inclination, any koha will be appreciated.

We first connected with Erica back in 2013 when she was invited to create a temporary art installation at the CANZ Conference in Wellington. She was so inspired by the lovely mix of warmth, gravitas and word-smithery she observed in the gathering, that she decided to explore further and extend her practice to include ritual-making and ceremony. Her adventurous career in socially engaged Public and Community arts has spanned 25 years, and along with her art partner Struan Ashby she has represented Aotearoa at the Frankfurt Book Fair; Dubai Canvas and other international festivals and events. As a ritual maker, Erica enjoys working collaboratively and actively encourages people to craft parts of their ritual themselves. As a choreographer of the fleeting, we are excited by the special magic she will bring to this event.
