Delivery

All courses leading to a Certificate or Diploma in Celebrant Studies are offered part-time, and are held either online (in evenings or on weekends as advertised) or, if face-to-face, over weekends in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. Our experience of adapting this programme during Covid-19 means that we will be able in future to draw together the best combination of media to meet our students’ needs. The time you spend in sessions is supplemented by self-directed learning, including pre-work, reading and assignments. Please allow up to a total of 60 hours per course (except MCE which is briefer by design).

In addition to the courses that lead to a qualification, we offer workshops and other learning opportunities for celebrants seeking ongoing professional development.

Attendance

Each course is carefully designed to facilitate experiential learning. You are expected to attend all sessions and only in exceptional circumstances, and with the written agreement of the lecturer, will you be able to miss any, without affecting your eligibility to pass.

Computer Skills

Computer skills are vital for the contemporary celebrant, and basic word processing is the minimum requirement. You are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet to class. Please let us know if you need additional support.

Fees

The fee for each course, including GST is listed on the enrolment page and is due for payment six weeks prior to the course beginning. A non-refundable booking fee of $150 must be deposited at the time of enrolment for all qualification courses (except MCE where full payment is due on enrolling). If you are having difficulty paying, please contact our Administrator to arrange a payment plan. Payment of the deposit should be made on the day of enrolment on the website via PoliPay, or using your internet banking, or by depositing into The Celebrant School account (ASB Bank Account no. 12 3025 0007384 00) at your bank

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Fees are payable six weeks prior to the commencement of a course leading to a qualification. If the fee has been paid in full, and cancellation is more than six weeks before a course starts, your enrolment may be fully transferred to a different date or a refund less deposit given.  If enrolment is cancelled 3-6 weeks before the date of the course commencing, a refund of 50% of the fees less the deposit, will be given. If enrolment is cancelled within three weeks of the module starting, no refund will be given.

Consideration may be given to unavoidable and exceptional circumstances. If this might apply to you, please write to the Director, explaining the reasons for withdrawal or postponement.

For stand-alone ongoing professional development workshops, refunds (less a 20% admin fee) will be issued if written advice of cancellation is received more than 3 weeks prior to commencement.

Enrol Early

Enrolments received less than a week before course commencement require additional administration. A 10% surcharge is applied to cover this. Please enrol early!

Repeats

We provide a lot of support to enable our students to meet the standards we require. Students who do not pass a course will need to re-enrol and pay the full course fee.

Complaint Process

We all take our responsibilities as celebrants and educators very seriously. We encourage students to raise any problems and issues with their lecturer in the first instance. Our Complaint Policy then enables you to take any unresolved misunderstandings or grievances to the Director of The Celebrant School (contact details below).
